As the National Park Service celebrates its centennial, the Yellowstone Park Foundation (YPF) Young Patrons began its duties as an official fundraising partner on Oct. 7, 2016, after its annual meeting at the Park.
The Young Patrons are a select group of 20 philanthropists, aged 21 to 40, who are engaged in a broader effort to engage millennial communities in conservation efforts.
Heather White, President and CEO of the merged Yellowstone Park Foundation and Yellowstone Association, said, “It is so fitting that we announce this exciting new initiative just as the National Park Service turned 100 last month.”
According to White, “This group of accomplished young professionals will bring their corporate and nonprofit expertise to our team to propel the organization’s mission to protect the park for future generations.”
The Yellowstone Park Foundation has served as Yellowstone National Park’s official fundraising partner since 1996. Its mission is to fund programs and projects that preserve, protect, and enhance the cultural and natural resource and visitor experience at the Park.
The Yellowstone Park Foundation has raised over $100 million since its inception to fund initiatives such as trail maintenance, wildlife research, youth education, and more.
Jacqueline Rooney, a longtime member of YPF’s Advisory Council and corporate communications manager at Facebook, Inc. spearheaded the initiative to create a Young Patrons Board.
Rooney and the new Board members Arielle Patrick, a Group Manager at Weber Shandwick, and Alice Ryan, a Director at KBS (kirshenbaum bond senecal + partners), will host a Young Patrons gala benefit in New York City on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
White stated the Board wanted to thank them in advance for donating their time and energy to preserving “the world’s first national park and engaging new stewards.”
The esteemed event will take place at Avenue New York (116 10th Avenue) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with an after-party at Happy Ending NYC (302 Broome Street).
The tony evening is being underwritten by several impressive sponsors, including TAO Group, DJ Theory, Stella Artois, Punzoné Organic Vodka, and Archer Roose.
The gala is the YPF’s second annual benefit. Patrick, Rooney, and Ryan hosted the first annual event in October 2015 at New York’s historic Bowery Hotel, drawing donations from more than 300 corporate sponsors and guests.
